The Director of Permian Promise oversees a comprehensive program including all initiatives that support the successful planning and implementation of the Permian Promise powered by Odessa College – a new program designed to ensure that college is a reality and funding is not a barrier for students who choose Odessa College. The high school graduating class of 2024 throughout the Odessa College service area will be the inaugural class of the Permian Promise.
Specific Position Duties
The director is responsible for all aspects of the efficient and effective functioning of the Permian Promise including but not limited to:
Establish and manage relationships with OC departments and programs that directly affect the Permian Promise including fundraising and fund development, academic and corporate partnerships, governmental relations, etc.
Maintain close working relationships with community-based organizations and public and private schools, and leads outreach efforts to increase knowledge of and participation in the Permian Promise
Initiate and coordinate activities and events on and off campus to promote a college-going culture, successful enrollments, and participation in appropriate educational programs and services
Coordinate development and measure effectiveness of promotional materials including print, electronic, web and digital assets for the Permian Promise
Engaging alumni as well as business and industry to support the Permian Promise through volunteer and mentor opportunities
Establish data sharing agreements with school districts as well as business and industry to determine and review student eligibility and student outcomes
Supports college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation
Use interpersonal skills and make sound judgments
Carries out other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
A strong commitment to the mission of the community college
Demonstrated knowledge of student and enrollment services functions including but not limited to admissions, records, scholarship, financial aid and testing
Demonstrated knowledge of student and enrollment services functions including but not limited to admissions, records, scholarship, financial aid and testing
Proven knowledge of removing barriers and improving the student experience
Strong computer skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse students and stakeholders
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect and interpret data; and effectively present information to college leaders and direct reports
Outstanding organizational and communication skills with ability to serve as strong advocate and articulate spokesperson
Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams in planning and implementing activities and events
Working knowledge of computer programs and understanding of and comfort with current technology
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in subject(s) related to education and five or more years’ experience in college administration/or equivalent
